PayPal Bingo Sites: It Will Not Take Your First Deposit
PayPal bingo sites: Mecca and Sun Bingo both take PayPal for deposits and withdrawals, but neither allows it on your first deposit or the welcome offer.
We checked eleven UK bingo operators against their own published pages. Only two state that they accept PayPal, and both bar it from your first deposit. Mecca Bingo says so in one line on its payments page; Sun Bingo restricts the welcome offer to debit cards. That is a very different answer from the lists promising a dozen PayPal bingo sites. Checked 22 August 2026.

The first-deposit catch
Mecca Bingo’s payment methods page lists PayPal with a tick against both Deposit and Withdrawals, a £10 minimum deposit and a £5 minimum withdrawal, in pounds or euros. Then it closes with this:
“PayPal is not available for first time deposits/welcome offer.”
Sun Bingo arrives at the same place by a different route. Its payments page confirms PayPal, Skrill and Neteller for deposits and withdrawals, then adds that to claim the welcome offer you can only deposit with a Visa or Mastercard debit card.
So if you came here to fund your very first deposit with PayPal and claim the sign-up offer, neither site will let you. You can switch to PayPal afterwards, and at Mecca you can withdraw to it from £5.
Why the restriction exists
This is not the operators being difficult. It traces to the ban on credit cards for gambling in Britain.
tombola explains the mechanism on its own payments page more clearly than most: the ban covers credit cards for all online and offline gambling other than lotteries, and, in its words, to close the loopholes that includes using credit cards through other payment methods such as Apple Pay and PayPal.
A PayPal balance can be funded by a credit card. An operator that cannot cheaply tell which is which has a simple way to stay compliant on the highest-risk transaction, the first one: insist on a debit card. That is why the restriction clusters on first deposits and welcome offers rather than on PayPal generally.
tombola takes that furthest. Debit cards are the only route for new players, and PayPal survives only as a legacy arrangement: an existing customer who already has PayPal registered may keep using it to deposit if they have used it within the past six months. Anyone who has never used it there, or who has already switched to Visa or Mastercard, cannot turn it back on.
Why other lists disagree with this one
Because it is easy to search a page for the word PayPal and count a hit.
Do that on three of the sites above and you will find it. On Buzz Bingo and Sun Bingo the match is a platform configuration value inside the page’s JavaScript, paypalMerchantValue, and on both it is set to an empty string. On Heart Bingo the match is a script address for Braintree’s PayPal checkout library.
None of those is the operator telling a customer it accepts PayPal. They are build artefacts of the gambling platform the site runs on, and a platform can ship a payment module the brand has not switched on.
We have counted only what an operator states on a page aimed at customers. That is why Heart Bingo appears here as unresolved rather than as a yes: the library is a real signal, but it is not a statement, and we could not reach a payments page on heartbingo.co.uk to confirm the terms.
Who actually runs these sites
The licensee matters more than the brand, because the licensee is who holds your balance and answers a complaint. Several of these brands are closer relatives than their names suggest.
Gamesys Operations Limited holds account 38905, and both Virgin Games and Jackpotjoy run on it. The Virgin name is licensed, not operated, by Virgin.
Broadway Gaming Ireland DF Limited holds account 58267, carrying Wink Bingo, Costa Bingo and 888ladies. Despite the name, 888ladies is not operated by 888. That account is also separate from Broadway Gaming Limited, number 39075, which runs Glossy Bingo and Dotty Bingo.
LC International Limited holds account 54743, so Gala Bingo sits on the same licence as Coral and Ladbrokes.
Rank Interactive (Gibraltar) Limited holds account 57924, putting Mecca Bingo alongside Grosvenor Casinos, Kitty Bingo and Lucky VIP. We map that licence in Kitty Bingo sister sites.
Two of these brands also appear twice on the register, once online and once on the high street. Mecca Bingo’s clubs are licensed as Mecca Bingo Limited, account 2396, and Buzz Bingo’s as Buzz Group Limited, account 2355. The online account is the one that covers a deposit made on the website.
If PayPal is the reason you are choosing
Then Mecca Bingo is the only site here with published terms you can hold it to: deposits and withdrawals both supported, £10 in, £5 out, and an explicit statement that the first deposit is excluded.
Sun Bingo is the second, with the same welcome-offer exclusion and no published minimums.
For everything else on this page, the honest answer is that the operator does not say, and we would rather write that than guess. If PayPal support matters to you at one of the unresolved sites, ask its live chat before you register, because the answer binds only when it comes from them.
One last thing worth weighing: all eleven operators here hold British licences, which means all eleven are inside GAMSTOP and answer to the Gambling Commission. A payment method is a convenience. The wagering requirement on the offer you claim will cost you far more, and our guide to how wagering requirements work covers that arithmetic. UKGC licensing explains what the licence behind each of these brands obliges them to do.
Frequently asked questions
Which UK bingo sites accept PayPal?
Of eleven operators checked on 22 August 2026, only Mecca Bingo and Sun Bingo state PayPal support on their own customer-facing pages. The rest either do not say, or in tombola case say no.
Can I use PayPal for my first bingo deposit?
Not at either site that confirms PayPal. Mecca Bingo states that PayPal is not available for first time deposits or the welcome offer, and Sun Bingo requires a Visa or Mastercard debit card to claim the welcome offer. You can switch to PayPal after the first deposit.
Why can I not use PayPal for a welcome offer?
Because a PayPal balance can be funded by a credit card, and credit cards are banned for gambling in Britain. tombola explains on its own payments page that the ban extends to credit cards used through other methods such as Apple Pay and PayPal, so operators require a debit card on the first deposit.
Why do other sites list far more PayPal bingo sites?
Because searching a page for the word PayPal produces false positives. On Buzz Bingo and Sun Bingo the match is a platform configuration value called paypalMerchantValue, set to an empty string, and on Heart Bingo it is a script address for Braintree PayPal checkout library. None of those is the operator telling a customer it accepts PayPal.
Does tombola accept PayPal?
Not for new players. tombola states that debit cards are the only way new players can add funds. Existing customers who already have PayPal registered may keep depositing with it provided they have used it within the past six months, but anyone who has never used it there, or who has switched away from it, cannot enable it.
What is the minimum PayPal deposit at Mecca Bingo?
u00a310 to deposit and u00a35 to withdraw, in pounds or euros, according to its payment methods page read on 22 August 2026.
